The role

We have an exciting part-time opportunity (3 days per week, but will consider full-time applicants) for a leasing paralegal to work within our team.

With a client list that includes a number of Australia’s largest and most high-profile retail landlords the opportunity arises at a time when our team both in Victoria and nationally is growing to be recognised as one of the pre-eminent leasing practices in the country.

Supervised by a leading partner in the retail leasing industry you will also work alongside some of the most experienced retail leasing experts in Melbourne.

This role will offer you the opportunity to work directly with our clients on matters from instruction through to completion.

Within the role you can expect to be:

  • Drafting lease documents, special conditions and associated transactional documents for retail shopping centres;
  • Negotiating amendments with tenants;
  • Providing advice to your clients about issues that arise;
  • Participating in the life of the team and the firm as a whole;
  • Ensuring that what you do for your clients is valuable, meaningful and excellent

Your skills and experience

We’re looking for someone with at least 5 years’ experience in drafting and negotiating leases.  You should be self-motivated and keen to develop and grow within the role and to help others do the same.

Whilst the majority of your work will fall within the retail space there may be the opportunity to also work on commercial leases.

As an applicant you should have a real enthusiasm for your work, love being part of a team and be someone who enjoys coming to work both to work hard and enjoy yourself and those around you.

It is the expectation in this role that you will have experience in and be comfortable in having responsibility for the preparation, negotiation and management of clients’ leases.
